SDSM: Economy in collapse, accuses government of daily borrowing and commissions

SDSM released a written statement today sharply criticizing the ruling party and warning that the country’s economy is collapsing amid repeated budget adjustments and growing financial gaps.

"It is no longer possible to hide the everyday lies. The economy is in collapse. A second rebalance in four months, a third announced. There is about one billion missing for pensions, and the second pension pillar has no money," SDSM said in a written statement.

The opposition accused the government of failing across multiple areas and of relying on continuous borrowing and opaque fees to sustain operations. "Every day they see borrowing, commissions, a mine for an arms trader, data centres for foreign digitalisation, commission for the gang," the party said, listing what it called recurrent abuses.

Bilateral issues and domestic politics

SDSM also targeted VMRO-DPMNE leadership over handling of international and identity issues. "There is no longer a surrender of national interest. The only surrenderer is the organised criminal group VMRO and the gang of Mickoski. Timcho Mucunski confirmed – Bilateral issues are not part of the negotiating framework. Prespa, says Mickoski, is a masterpiece. Siljanovska: identity, language and culture are protected. Europe confirmed that. Last in the line, the chairwoman of the Commission said you do not negotiate with Bulgaria, you negotiate with the EU," the statement reads.

The party also accused opponents of deliberate provocations at public events. "Deliberate provocations: first fascists, then 'konjopoj', before Mucunski's meeting with the Bulgarian minister," SDSM said.

SDSM concluded by emphasising that EU candidacy conditions include cooperation with an independent prosecution and with Laura Kovesi, and called for those responsible to be held to account.
