SDSM: Hristijan Mickoski pursues Serbian‑Russian agenda and deliberately isolates North Macedonia
SDSM says EU plans to set concrete accession dates exclude North Macedonia and that the delay benefits Belgrade and Moscow.
The European Union is reportedly preparing to set concrete dates for completing key phases of accession talks for some candidate countries — a move that, according to the opposition, does not include North Macedonia.
The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has accused the government led by Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski of carrying out a Serbian‑Russian agenda and pursuing a deliberate policy of isolating the country.
Opposition statement
In a written comment, SDSM said:
"Brussels is preparing action plans for the countries closest to membership – Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova, Albania. Macedonia has been left out together with Serbia, Kosovo and Bosnia, as countries that have not moved. We were the first to start and we are still waiting because the gang did not complete the reforms. It received a deadline, it extended it by one year. It promised 1 June, and since then no word. The roadmap is not given to a gang. It is given to an institution",
SDSM argued that the stalled eurointegration process serves the interests of Serbia and Russia by keeping North Macedonia outside the European Union and opening space for influence from Belgrade and Moscow.
"Isolation did not fall from the sky. The cabinet is doing it. Whoever stops the reforms, stops Europe. Whoever stops Europe, hands the country over to a foreign agenda. The roadmap will come when the gang leaves", the party added.
