SDSM: Judiciary being used for political ends by VMRO‑DPMNE government

The opposition SDSM accused the government led by VMRO‑DPMNE of exerting political influence over the judiciary and applying laws selectively.

Party representatives criticized the recent lifting of house arrest for Artan Grubi and pointed to several other cases where they believe competent bodies have not acted appropriately.

SDSM said the justice system must guarantee equal treatment for all citizens regardless of their political affiliation and demanded transparent, impartial procedures in disputed files.

Questions raised over multiple investigations

The opposition singled out the case of Iva Mihailova, alleging that she crossed the border without proper records, and also cited instances involving domestic violence, a drug seizure and the way institutions have handled reports of corruption and criminality.

SDSM claimed there are double standards in the work of the police, the prosecution and other relevant authorities, and additionally accused the government of alleged political pressure on the prosecution.

The party urged a uniform application of the law and called on institutions to restore public trust by acting without political bias.
