16-year-old in Tetovo turns himself in after unintentionally injuring friend

A 16-year-old turned himself in to police in Tetovo after saying he had unintentionally injured a fellow minor with a sharp object, authorities reported.

The incident was logged at the Tetovo Police Department on 3 September at 22:30. The initial report was filed by 47‑year‑old B.Š. from the village of Celopek, who informed police that his minor son had been sitting on a bench near the Cultural Center in Tetovo at about 18:30 the same day.

Self-report led to detention

According to the complaint, a 16‑year‑old friend from a village near Tetovo approached the boy while they were talking and allegedly, unintentionally, caused an injury with a sharp object. The teenager did not flee the scene; instead, he later went to the Tetovo Police Department and reported the event himself.

Police detained the 16‑year‑old on suspicion that he committed the criminal offence "bodily injury", as provided under Article 130 of the Criminal Code.

The public prosecutor was notified, and police officers are continuing the necessary measures to fully clarify and document the case.
