Six police officers facing suspension over excessive force in Saraj
The Ministry of Interior says six officers will be suspended after video and witness statements showed irregular conduct on October 7, 2026.

Six police officers will face disciplinary proceedings and removal from duty — suspension — over an incident of excessive use of force in the Saraj municipality, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced today.
The Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards at the Ministry of Interior is taking measures related to an event that occurred on October 7, 2026, involving excessive use of physical force and injuries inflicted on persons by police officers during the exercise of police powers.
Findings from video and witness statements
Checks carried out by the Department, together with video recordings and witness statements secured from the scene, revealed a series of irregularities in the officers' conduct. As a result, the Department will initiate procedures against six police officers for breaches of work order and discipline and will impose measures for removal from the workplace — suspension.
The MoI also said that, regarding the criminal reports submitted to the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards and to the Sector for Internal Affairs Skopje, the competent public prosecutors have issued orders for expert/forensic examinations, which are being executed.
After the entire body of evidence is documented, the Ministry said it will submit the appropriate filings.
