Spain to provide €437 million military aid to Ukraine, Zelensky said

Spain will send a new military aid package worth €437 million to Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced after meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Madrid.

Talks on the package and urgent defense needs

Zelensky said the two leaders discussed the contents of the new package and the most urgent requirements of Ukraine’s defence forces. He emphasized that Spain has been a steady supporter of Ukraine throughout the war.

In remarks after the meeting, Zelensky highlighted the human cost of the conflict and offered condolences to Spain over a recent rail disaster there. He said: "With Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez we discussed in detail Russian attacks. Russia kills our people daily, and Ukrainians know how painful every loss of human life is. Last month, the terrible railway accident in Toledo, Spain, took dozens of lives. I offered my condolences to the prime minister and to all who lost relatives and friends," said Zelensky.

The announcement follows talks in Madrid where both leaders assessed immediate military needs and the scope of the Spanish contribution. Zelensky described the aid as part of sustained Spanish support during the war.

No additional technical details about the contents of the €437 million package were released in the immediate statement, and officials said further information would be provided by the Spanish government in due course.
