Traffic disruptions
The storm caused serious traffic disruptions and affected air transport: delays and cancellations of flights were recorded at airports in Bordeaux, Marseille, Nice and Toulouse, as well as at several airports north of Paris.
Authorities warn that this storm comes after a period of extreme weather in Europe, marked by intense heatwaves and large wildfires; in southwestern France about 42,000 hectares burned in one of the largest fires since World War II. According to France's national meteorological service, the country on average records several dozen tornadoes annually.
