Elevators at the Internal Clinics of Clinical Center "Mother Teresa" repaired and returned to service

All elevators at the Internal Clinics of the Clinical Center "Mother Teresa" have been repaired and are back in operation, the hospital's Service for General and Common Affairs announced this afternoon.

The statement said that the elevators had been fixed and returned to service after earlier failures. Hospital staff noted that some of the elevators are older than 40 years and, due to heavy daily use, suffer frequent breakdowns.

Operational impact

Earlier today the Internal Clinics were left without a single working elevator, which created difficulties for patients with serious medical conditions who needed to reach examinations. To cope with the situation, staff used the goods (freight) elevator to move patients.

The Internal Clinics house the Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Clinic for Nephrology, and the Clinic for Pulmonology and Allergology; patients with a range of diagnoses travel daily to these departments for appointments.

Hospital officials say the repaired lifts are now in service and monitoring of their condition will continue given their age and intensive use.
