Skopje extends container hours — cafes may throw out waste until 1:00 a.m.
City council extended container hours for hospitality venues; municipal company to sign contracts for dedicated containers.

The City of Skopje has amended its rules on when rubbish may be deposited in public containers, allowing bars and cafes to dispose of waste until 1:00 a.m. — three hours longer than the limit that applies to ordinary residents.
Under the regulation adopted in November last year, citizens were permitted to put out waste between 06:00 and 22:00; failure to comply was subject to a 50-euro fine.

Mayor Orce Gjorgievski said that the Public Enterprise "Komunalna Higiena" has already begun concluding agreements with hospitality businesses to provide them with their own containers. The change aims to adapt collection rules to the needs of nighttime venues while preserving general limits for residents.
So far the cafes do not yet have special containers. City officials say they are waiting for the businesses to indicate what container sizes they require before deliveries are finalised.
The city continues to prohibit putting waste into containers between 22:00 and 06:00 for ordinary residential users, and the penalty for breaching that rule remains 50 euros.
