Skopje to host European Judo Championships for Uniformed Services in 2027

The Judo Federation of North Macedonia will host a major European event in 2027 after a decision by the European Judo Union. President Vladimir Trpanoski and technical collaborator Goran Micoski are this weekend in Birmingham, England, at the invitation of EJU President Laszlo Tot to attend the inaugural European Championships for Uniformed Services and to hold preparatory meetings on the 2027 staging.

Flag handover this Sunday in Birmingham

As part of the weekend programme, on Sunday President Trpanoski will formally receive the European Judo Union flag at a ceremonial event in Birmingham. The flag will be brought to Macedonia as a symbolic transfer of responsibility to the next host nation and organiser of the championship in 2027.

The EJU decision follows Macedonia's recent record of organising large continental judo competitions, and it represents renewed trust in the Judo Federation of North Macedonia's organisational capacities. Federation officials say the award recognises years of work and the country's readiness to welcome athletes and delegations for a major European championship.

During their stay in Birmingham, Trpanoski and Micoski will also hold several working meetings with the European Judo Union leadership to align details on logistics, competition formats and the calendar for 2027. Those discussions are intended to ensure the event meets EJU standards and provides a smooth experience for participants from across Europe.

Federation representatives emphasise that hosting the European Championships for Uniformed Services will bring further international attention to judo in North Macedonia and help develop the sport domestically through improved infrastructure and event expertise.
