Parliament withdraws proposal to elect Judicial Council member
Assembly President Afrim Gashi announced the item was pulled; the selection between two vetted candidates will be repeated soon.
The Assembly did not hold a vote today to choose a new member of the Judicial Council after the item was withdrawn from the agenda, Assembly President Afrim Gashi told lawmakers during the continuation of the 94th session.
The election was to be held between two candidates who met the formal requirements and had passed the screening by the Committee on Electoral and Appointment Issues. "The procedure to elect a member of the Judicial Council is expected to be repeated soon," the Assembly said.
Parliament business continued with multiple session items
Work in the Assembly continued across several resumed sittings. In the 122nd plenary session lawmakers approved a set of laws, mainly harmonizations concerning the law on senior officials. From the agenda was also withdrawn the proposal for the chair and members of the "Mother Teresa" award.
MPs voted to amend the Law on Representation of the Republic of North Macedonia before the European Court of Human Rights, the Law on Public Utility Activities, the Law on Construction, amendments and additions to the Law on Road Transport, amendments to the Law on Sanitary and Health Inspection and amendments and additions to the Law on Restrictive Measures, all adopted by shortened procedure.
President Afrim Gashi informed MPs that the proponent had withdrawn the financial plan proposal of the Regulatory Commission for Energy, Water Services and Waste Management of the Republic of North Macedonia for 2026 and the related decision to determine the percentage of deduction from total annual revenue to finance the commission's operations, items that had been on the agenda of the 73rd session.
Parliament continued with the 100th plenary session and a debate on the Annual Report of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption for 2025. On the agenda of that session are also special reports of the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption on findings in the financing of the election campaign for mayors and councilors in municipalities across the Republic of North Macedonia and on the financing of repeat mayoral elections in Gostivar, Vrapchishte, Mavrovo and Rostushe and Centar Zhupa — 2026.
