Sunny and very warm — highs up to 39 °C nationwide; Skopje up to 36 °C
Sunny and very warm weather is expected today across North Macedonia, with a heat wave extending into next week and some places possibly topping 40 °C from Wednesday.
The Hydrometeorological Service reports that today will be sunny and warm with only small, local clouds. A light to moderate wind from the northeast is expected, while minimum temperatures will range from 12 to 20 °C and maximum values will reach between 32 and 39 °C.
In Skopje the outlook is the same: sunny and warm with a light to moderate wind of variable direction. Nighttime lows are forecast to fall to 18 °C, while daytime highs will reach up to 36 °C.
The forecast highlights widespread high temperatures across the country, with the most intense heat concentrated in the lowland areas where daily maxima approach the upper end of the predicted range.
Short-term outlook
Forecasters say that under the influence of a heat wave, conditions will remain sunny and very warm through the end of next week.
They add that it will be particularly hot from Wednesday, when in some locations daytime temperatures will exceed 40 °C.
