World Bank raises North Macedonia growth forecast to 3.2% for 2026

The World Bank has raised its growth forecast for North Macedonia to 3.2% for 2026, up from an earlier projection of 2.9%.

In its October report the World Bank identifies infrastructure projects as the primary engines expected to support the faster expansion of the economy next year.

Outlook for the medium term

For 2027 and 2028 the Bank now projects growth of 3.0% in North Macedonia for each year.

On a regional level, the World Bank forecasts growth for the Western Balkans of 3.1% in 2026 and 3.4% in both 2027 and 2028.

Analysts say the upward revision reflects stronger investment momentum from public works and cross‑border projects, but the sustainability of the improvement will depend on how quickly infrastructure spending translates into broader private-sector activity and employment.
