Blow for Juventus — Kenan Yildiz set for surgery and a lengthy absence

Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz faces an extended spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury in the opening Serie A match against Frosinone, a fixture Juventus won 1:0. The 21-year-old sustained the problem during that first-round encounter.

Medical tests point to a metatarsal fracture and likely surgery

Medical examination carried out on Monday raised concerns about a fracture of the metatarsal bone, and subsequent tests have confirmed the club doctors' worries. Yildiz is now very likely to require an operation to fix the injury.

Juventus expect the winger to be out of action for approximately two and a half to three months while he recovers from surgery and rehabilitation. The club's medical staff have set that time frame as the most realistic timetable for his return to training and match readiness.

The loss of Yildiz is a setback for the squad's attacking options on the wing, forcing the coaching staff to adjust rotations and rely on other players while the youngster recovers. His absence will be felt during the next block of domestic fixtures.

The club is hopeful that Yildiz will be sufficiently recovered to return before the November international break, which would allow him to rejoin team preparations ahead of the busy late-season schedule.

Yildiz, 21, had been viewed as one of the promising young attacking options at Juventus; the team will monitor his rehabilitation closely as they aim to manage the setback without rushing his comeback.
