Teteks in Skopje: Over five decades as a local favourite
Open since 1970, Teteks has become a generational gathering place in Skopje thanks to its grills, burgers and friendly service.

Cities are rarely remembered only by addresses; they live in the people who meet there and the tastes that tie those meetings together. In Skopje, lunch breaks, spontaneous gatherings and the everyday question "What shall we eat today?" help map the city’s social life.
Tradition that keeps evolving
One of those places that has threaded itself into daily life is Teteks. Open since 1970, the restaurant has been part of Skopje’s culinary texture for more than five decades, surviving shifts in the city while keeping a familiar presence for generations of customers.
Regulars point to the food as the clearest proof of the place’s staying power. "The burgers are juicy and full of flavor, the fries are perfectly crispy, and the desserts are a perfect finish to the meal," says Marjan I., a long-time patron.
The welcome and atmosphere matter as much as the menu. "Possibly the friendliest staff I've met! They made our whole evening better, and the food was a solid ten," shares Azra B., who often returns with friends and family.
Keeping a tradition does not mean refusing change. Teteks’ menu balances established favorites — from kebapi and classic cheeseburgers — to trendier options such as smash burgers and other contemporary combinations, so each generation can find its own favorites.
"If you want good grill, you're in the right place. The kebapi and pleskavicas are excellent, and the portions are just right," says Denis A., who comes for the charcoal-grilled specialties.
After more than half a century, Teteks remains a visible thread in Skopje’s everyday life: a place where tastes connect people across generations and an easy answer to the familiar question — "Let's go to Teteks!"
