Tetovo municipality says citizens and businesses owe about €3 million in unpaid property tax and communal fees, and from Oct. 1 it will step up collection by referring debts to enforcement agents.
The municipality and Mayor Bilal Kasami called on residents to check their accounts and pay outstanding property tax for 2024 and 2025 to avoid forced collection.
“An appeal to all citizens who have not paid property tax in 2024 and 2025 to fulfil that obligation, because in the coming days we are preparing a procedure for enforced collection. Therefore, so that enforced collection does not occur, we ask all citizens to fulfil their obligations to the municipality for property tax for previous years,” Kasami said.
What the municipality says and who is affected
The announcement covers both private individuals and legal entities that owe municipal property tax and communal charges. The municipality described the move as a transition to a more active collection phase aimed at reducing the backlog of unpaid liabilities.
Residents were urged to check their payment status and settle any debts promptly to prevent their cases from being transferred to enforcement agents.
