Warm weather with local clouds, afternoon instability expected
Warm daytime highs up to 39 ºC, afternoon gusty showers and isolated storms possible over the weekend.
Today will be warm and mostly sunny with scattered local cloudiness and a chance of short-lived instability in the afternoon. A moderate to occasionally stronger wind from the northwest is expected across the country.
Night lows will range between 13 and 20 ºC, while daytime highs will climb from 31 up to 39 ºC in the hottest areas. The heat will be most pronounced in the lowland and eastern parts of the country.
In Skopje the day will be sunny and warm with only small to moderate cloud cover. Winds will be light to moderate and variable in direction, with temperatures falling to 20 ºC overnight and reaching up to 39 ºC during the day.
During the afternoon localised convective activity can develop, bringing brief heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some spots. Gusty gusts accompanying these cells may briefly strengthen the northwest wind.
Weekend outlook
On the coming weekend mornings should remain sunny and warm, but afternoons are likely to feature isolated to more widespread instability in places. Expect heavy rain bursts, thunder and stronger winds locally; some cells may evolve into severe storms producing torrential rain, strong winds and hail.
Residents in vulnerable areas should monitor local forecasts and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions during afternoon and evening hours.
