Tragedy in Miroslav Ilić’s family: cousin (64) dies after falling into shaft in Mrčaevci

A tragic accident struck the family of Serbian singer Miroslav Ilić after his 64-year-old cousin died in Mrčaevci, a village near Čačak. Initial reports say the man fell into a shaft located close to the family home and could not be rescued.

The incident occurred during the morning hours. According to available information, the man fell into the shaft beside the house and was unable to climb out; the event ended with him drowning inside the confined space.

Emergency response and investigation

Emergency medical teams and local police arrived at the scene shortly after the report. Medical personnel determined that the man was already dead on their arrival and were unable to save him.

Police carried out an inspection of the site and authorities said the case is being handled as an accident while relevant institutions work to establish the precise circumstances. So far there are no indications of foul play.

Ilić confirmed that the deceased was his cousin and said he was deeply saddened by the loss. The death has shocked family members and relatives in the area.

Mrčaevci is the singer’s native village and Ilić has often spoken publicly about his attachment to his birthplace. More details are expected once investigators complete their procedures.
