Diego Contreras fractured leg overshadows Sileks 1:1 Arsimi draw

Diego Contreras’s serious leg fracture overshadowed a 1:1 draw between Sileks and Arsimi in the ninth round of the Macedonian First Football League (PMFL) played this weekend. The injury occurred in the first half and left the home side and medical staff alarmed.

Match events and the injury

Contreras went down while attempting a shot in the opening period: he planted his standing leg awkwardly and, as he fell, sat on it. The result was a severe fracture; he was immediately transported to hospital by ambulance.

Before the dramatic injury, Sileks goalkeeper Siljanovski produced a series of important saves in the first half that kept the score level and denied Arsimi a lead.

The scoring came after halftime. In the 47th minute, Dzemaili put the ball into his own net for a rare own goal and Sileks took a 0:1 lead. Six minutes later, in the 53rd minute, Gaje reacted to a well-placed move down the right and equalised for Arsimi, making it 1:1.

Siljanovski remained a decisive figure until the final whistle, denying several clear chances. Aleksandar Mishov had a good opportunity late on but shot over from three to four metres out.

The match will be remembered less for the result and more for Contreras’s severe injury, which casts doubt on his short-term availability and will be monitored as the club awaits further medical updates.
