Trebinje: tender launched for 126m bridge as part of 'Novo Trebinje' for 25,000 residents

A new urban development called Novo Trebinje, planned to accommodate about 25,000 residents on roughly 380 hectares, is advancing near the Bosnian town of Trebinje. Preparatory works and initial contracts for an access road and a large congress centre have already moved forward; the next major step is construction of a new bridge over the Trebišnjica river.

The tender for the bridge was published by Hidroelektrane Trebišnjica (HET). The estimated value of the works is 5 million convertible marks (KM) without VAT, or 5.85 million KM including tax.

Bridge specifications and associated infrastructure

According to the tender documents, the structure will be 126 metres long and will include two traffic lanes plus separate surfaces for pedestrians and cyclists. The project package also covers supporting infrastructure such as public lighting and a drainage system.

The bridge is intended to link the existing part of Trebinje with the planned urban zone, where an extensive programme of residential, commercial and public construction is foreseen.

The procurement process to select a contractor has begun. The actual start date for construction will depend on the outcome of the public procurement and the fulfilment of other required conditions.
