The Center for Crisis Management (CUK) reported that, during the past 24 hours up to 07:30, a total of 29 fires in open areas were recorded across the country: three remain active, one has been brought under control and 25 have been extinguished.

Active blazes and locations

One of the active fires affects the area on the border of the Studenichani and Zelenikovo municipalities — on the stretch from the villages of Morane, Vrtekica and Ramni Gaber toward Paligrad, and above the village of Vrazhale — where mixed forest is burning. Another active fire is in the Gostivar village of Trnovo, also burning mixed forest. A third active fire is above the village of Nezhilovo in the Chashka municipality, where spruce stands have been affected.

Authorities say the fire near the Kichevo village of Tajmishte, at the Darda locality, has been brought under control; that blaze had burned high-stem beech forest.

During the same reporting period 25 fires were extinguished at various locations around the country, including Strumica, Vasilevo, Delchevo, Kumanovo, Jegunovce, Gostivar, Vrapchishte, Demir Hisar, Probishtip, Ilinden, Saraj, Cair, Studenichani, Arachinovo, Makedonski Brod, Novaci, Petrovec, Berovo, Karbinci and Cheshinovo-Obleshevo.

CUK notes that the fires consumed low vegetation, stubble, dry grass and shrubs, and in several cases affected forested areas; in individual incidents waste, straw, buildings and even a stork's nest were also involved.

A related video published during the events showed flames fully engulfing the Shtip–Kochani road; authorities called on drivers to avoid that route while the situation is handled. Crisis teams continue to monitor the active fires and coordinate local response efforts.
