Three North Macedonian citizens killed in highway crash in Slovenia

Three North Macedonian citizens died and two were injured in a serious traffic accident on a Slovenian highway on Thursday afternoon at around 16:30, authorities reported. The crash occurred on the stretch between Unec and Ravbarkomanda, in the direction of Koper.

According to initial information from the Koper Police Directorate, a truck and a passenger car were involved. The truck had stopped at the side of the motorway due to a mechanical defect when the car struck the rear left side of the trailer.

All five occupants of the passenger car were citizens of North Macedonia. A doctor at the scene pronounced three people dead. One of the injured was flown by helicopter to hospital, while the injured driver was taken away by an emergency medical vehicle.

Investigation under way

Police officers are still conducting an on-site inspection. A state prosecutor and an investigating judge went to the scene to oversee the initial investigative actions.

Authorities said that further details about the causes of the accident will be released after the conclusion of the first investigative steps.
