Man detained near Gostivar after pouring hot coffee on wife
Police say the 52-year-old was arrested after his 40-year-old wife reported he poured hot coffee on her, causing burns.
A 52-year-old man from a village in the Gostivar area has been detained after allegedly pouring hot coffee on his wife, police reported.
The incident, police say, left the 40-year-old woman with burn injuries and led officers from OVR Gostivar to arrest the suspect late on the night of September 15, 2026.
Police: case documented, criminal charge to follow
"On 15.09.2026 at 23:30 in a village in the Gostivar area, police officers from OVR Gostivar detained B.K.(52) from the village, acting on a prior report from his 40-year-old wife that in the family home, after a short argument, he poured hot coffee on her, causing her to sustain burns. He was held at the police station and after documenting the case an appropriate charge will follow," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
Officers say the man remains in police custody while investigators complete the case file. Information released so far did not specify the woman's current medical condition or the severity of her burns.
Prosecutors will review the documentation prepared by the police and decide on formal charges. The investigation is ongoing.
