UHMR: Rain and falling temperatures forecast for the weekend
Localized heavy showers, thunderstorms and stronger north winds are expected; daytime temperatures will fall from Saturday.
The Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR) has forecast variable cloudiness and intermittent rain across the weekend, with the most intense weather expected locally.
What to expect
According to the forecast, some areas will experience heavy, possibly torrential downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and a strengthened north wind. Forecasters warn these conditions may develop in localized cells rather than uniformly across the country.
From Saturday the daytime temperatures will begin to fall, ending the recent warm spell. Meteorologists say the warm and sunny weather will persist for two more days before the change arrives.
During the afternoon hours on the coming days there will be spots with conditions favourable for sudden heavy rain, thunder and strong gusts of wind. Drivers and outdoor event organisers are advised to monitor updates and take usual precautions for sudden storms.
The UHMR recommends paying attention to local warnings where showers turn intense and to expect cooler daytime readings from Saturday as the northerly wind influences the air mass.
