Vesna Zmijanac renovates Bukulja retreat and installs new pool with jacuzzi
After a 50-year career the singer upgraded her Bukulja estate near Arandjelovac, creating a family-focused home with a new pool and jacuzzi.
Legendary Balkan singer Vesna Zmijanac has completed a major renovation of her mountain retreat on Bukulja, near Arandjelovac in Šumadija, reinforcing how decades of careful career management can pay off. After a 50-year career she has upgraded the property into a modern family enclave while keeping its homely character.
New pool, family focus
A television crew that used a drone to film the estate this summer recorded visible construction activity: craftsmen worked throughout the season to finish a standout feature — a new swimming pool with an integrated jacuzzi. The singer's daughter, Nikolija, her husband Relja Popović and the grandchildren are singled out as the main beneficiaries of the new outdoor addition.
The Bukulja property has been arranged to host multigenerational family gatherings. When Zmijanac is away, a household team housed in a separate outbuilding on the plot looks after the house and the grounds, ensuring the estate remains ready for family visits.
Inside, the home keeps a warm, lived-in atmosphere. Rooms are decorated with old photographs and mementos; the large kitchen is especially important to Zmijanac, who spends hours there preparing favorite dishes for her grandchildren.
Beyond Bukulja, Zmijanac's real-estate portfolio also includes seven luxury apartments in prime locations across Belgrade. Her rise from a modest childhood in the village of Kovači near Kraljevo to this position of comfort is part of the singer's long public story.
Her childhood house in Kovači now stands abandoned and overgrown, yet local residents still remember her with pride and say the building deserves restoration one day as a tribute to one of the region's most important musical figures.
