Viktor Trenevski appointed new coach of Bežanija

Viktor Trenevski has been presented as the new head coach of Bežanija, marking his return to Belgrade after decades spent playing and coaching abroad.

The appointment, announced on 18 August 2026, brings a coach with extensive experience both on the pitch and at the sideline. Bežanija hope his arrival will accelerate their push to return to Serbia’s top division.

Experienced name, clear task

Trenevski is best remembered in Serbia for his spells with Partizan, and his résumé includes stops across the Balkans. Club officials highlighted that the renovated training pitch and improved conditions were factors in convincing the coach to accept the job.

At his presentation in Belgrade Trenevski said: "I'm still not fully familiar with all the details. In the past two days we got in contact and agreed very quickly, because there was no need to think much. Especially since Bežanija has weight and tradition, and I see that the conditions are good — the pitch has been renovated — so all that together attracted me to come to Serbian football. I have been across the whole Balkans, since the golden era of Partizan, through the other republics, and here I am again in Belgrade, which for me is a special city."

Club supporters and local media expect Trenevski to focus on stabilising the squad and building a competitive side able to challenge for promotion. The coming weeks will show how quickly the new coach can implement his plans.

Bežanija begin their competitive preparations under Trenevski with the clear objective of re-establishing themselves among Serbia’s football elite.
