Government extends reduced VAT on fuels — 10% until 12 October 2026
The Government extended the temporary VAT cut on fuels to 10% until 12 October 2026 to help protect household living standards.

The Government at its session on 28 September 2026 decided to extend the reduced VAT rate for fuels from 18% to 10% until 12 October 2026.
According to the announcement, the measure is intended to provide continued tax relief on fuels to help stabilise prices and shield household living standards. "The decision provides for an extension of the measure that enables a reduced tax rate, with the aim of ensuring stability and protecting citizens' standard of living," the Government said.
Scope and duration
The reduction applies to fuels taxed under the value added tax system and will remain in force through the date stated by the Government, 12 October 2026. The move represents a temporary fiscal step aimed at easing pressures on consumers.
No further details on additional compensatory measures or monitoring mechanisms were released with the announcement. The Government framed the extension as a measure to preserve purchasing power amid ongoing economic pressures.
Authorities said they will continue to follow market developments and may review the policy as conditions change ahead of the October expiry date.
