Government approves draft amendments to the 2026 budget — revenues 374.2 billion denars, expenditures 420.5 billion denars
Draft changes reflect fiscal impact of reduced excises and VAT on fuels; proposal goes to the Assembly for adoption.

The Government today (7 October 2026) approved a draft proposal to amend the 2026 state budget, moving to adjust both revenue and spending lines in response to the fiscal impact of measures the Government introduced to support households and businesses.
Under the changes, total revenues are projected at 374.2 billion denars, while expenditures are projected at 420.5 billion denars. The budget deficit is to remain at its current, unchanged level.
Why the adjustments
The revision stems primarily from the fiscal cost of the Government’s decision to lower excise duties and value added tax on fuels, measures officials say were aimed at easing the burden on citizens and commercial operators.
According to the Government, the aim of the proposed amendments is to preserve the stability of public finances, ensure uninterrupted and regular operation of state institutions, implement planned programmes and service all obligations on time.
The draft amendments will be submitted to the Assembly for further consideration and formal adoption.
