VLEN rejects DUI's claims — says Corridor 8 construction is ongoing
VLEN dismissed DUI's claim of a "4 to 1" shift of construction resources and pointed to active works on Gostivar–Bukojchani and Tetovo–Gostivar.
The ruling coalition VLEN rejected accusations from the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) that the government is prioritising the Prilep–Bitola section of Corridor 10‑D over Corridor 8 for electoral reasons, calling the claims fabricated and politically motivated.
VLEN calls the 4:1 allegation "invented mathematics"
In its response, VLEN characterised the opposition statements as propaganda and said they lack evidence. DUI had alleged there is a political order to speed up the Prilep–Bitola (Corridor 10‑D) works so the project is finished before next spring's elections, and that resources on the ground are being shifted in a "4 to 1" ratio in favour of that route.
VLEN urged DUI to produce a single official document to back up the claimed "4 to 1" ratio, saying the accusation was part of an attempt to involve NATO in what the coalition described as empty pre‑election noise.
Answering specific points, VLEN pointed to ongoing construction on the Corridor 8 alignments and provided on‑site figures. "On the Gostivar–Bukojchani section works are under way on 17 of the total 31 kilometres, and activities continue on Tetovo–Gostivar as well as on other sections. Corridor 8 is a strategic project and will be realised," the coalition said.
VLEN also criticised DUI politically, accusing the party of continuing to spread falsehoods similar to those it promoted while in government and saying it has become a burden to citizens. The coalition warned that if the opposition persists, voters could remove it from the political map.
The dispute highlights growing tensions ahead of the next electoral cycle, with VLEN emphasising active work on Corridor 8 and DUI accusing the authorities of diverting resources to visible, election‑timed projects.
