VMRO-DPMNE urges Public Prosecutor to act over SDSM 'panic' about Alta Bank

VMRO-DPMNE urged the Public Prosecutor's Office to intervene after accusing SDSM and Health Minister Venko Filipche of deliberately spreading panic about Alta Bank and undermining public trust in financial institutions.

In a statement, the party said the opposition is intentionally stirring unrest among citizens and damaging confidence in the banking system for political gain, repeating that such tactics are aimed at regaining influence despite being politically weakened.

Demand for action under Article 315

VMRO-DPMNE called on the Public Prosecutor's Office to act under Article 315 of the Criminal Code for the offense of sabotage and included the legal text in its release:

"Whoever, in the performance of his work duty, with the intent to endanger the constitutional order or the security of the Republic of North Macedonia, in a concealed, insidious or other manner causes significant damage to a state body, institution or legal entity in which he works, or to another state body, institution or legal entity, shall be punished by imprisonment of at least three years."

The statement singled out SDSM's press conferences held in front of vital state institutions such as the National Bank, and the party said the daily accusations against the central bank demonstrate an intent to cause harm to state organs, legal entities and depositors — meaning Macedonian citizens.

VMRO-DPMNE also noted that this, they say, is not the first time SDSM and Filipche have raised matters with dramatic announcements and accusations. The party demanded institutions act to stop what it described as political manipulation of a case involving Alta Bank.
