VMRO-DPMNE: Pension fund is stable, pensions increased by 7,000 denars

VMRO-DPMNE says the country’s pension fund is stable and that the party has raised pensions by 7,000 denars in less than two years, while accusing the opposition of creating “hysteria and panic.”
Party responds to criticism
In a statement released by party officials, VMRO-DPMNE argued that transfers of budget money into pension systems are common across Europe and criticized SDSM’s handling of economic issues, saying that “but SDSM do not understand economics.”
The party reiterated that pension payments will be credited to retirees’ bank accounts on the first of each month, a measure it presented as a guarantee of regularity and predictability for beneficiaries.
VMRO-DPMNE also highlighted the cumulative increase in pensions, noting the 7,000-denar rise achieved within the current government’s period of under two years as evidence of progress for pensioners.
The opposition has pushed back, asserting that the pension insurance fund’s shortfall has widened. SDSM has claimed the deficit increased by 1 billion euros and accused VMRO-DPMNE leadership of putting pensions at risk.
The dispute sets the stage for further public and political debate over the fiscal health of the pension system and the methods used to cover pension obligations.
