VMRO‑DPMNE: Facades on City Wall towers are crumbling — residents at risk

VMRO‑DPMNE’s Centre branch published on Facebook that the facades of the towers along Skopje’s City Wall are deteriorating and now fall in large pieces, creating a hazard for pedestrians in the city centre.

The local party organisation says the damage has accelerated: whereas in the past small tiles came away bit by bit, the posts claim that whole sections of the exterior are detaching and posing a direct risk to passers-by.

Party demands accountability from mayor

In its statement the branch called for direct responsibility from Mayor Goran Gerasimovski, noting that he is a member of SDSM. VMRO‑DPMNE demanded concrete action to secure the buildings and the surrounding public space.

Under the Facebook posts, citizens commented with complaints about low hygiene and general neglect in the central Skopje area, saying municipal services are not addressing the situation.

No timeline for repairs or an official response from the mayor’s office had been published by the time of the party’s post, and the Facebook thread shows residents urging faster intervention to prevent injuries or property damage.
