Commemoration in Bitola Marks Formation of the Seventh Macedonian Shock Brigade

Deputy mayor Marina Krstic attended a ceremony in Bitola today to mark the anniversary of the formation of the Seventh Macedonian Shock Brigade on 22 August 1944.

Ceremony, anthem and wreaths

The national anthem of the Republic of North Macedonia was performed at the start of the event, followed by a wreath-laying by officials and participants in front of the city’s monuments.

On behalf of the Municipality of Bitola, Deputy Mayor Marina Krstic placed fresh flowers and paid tribute at the memorials to the national heroes Vasko Karangelevski and Petso Gudovski on the Bitola promenade.

The local branch president delivered an address reflecting on the brigade’s wartime role and legacy. The commemorative programme was organised by the Association of Veterans of Defense and Security of the Republic of North Macedonia — Bitola branch.

The gathering brought together municipal representatives and veterans for a brief remembrance that combined official observance with respect for the historical milestone.
