Parcel for Idrizovo prisoner contained 32 packs of marijuana
A parcel for a prisoner from Kumanovo was placed under additional checks; the Ministry of Internal Affairs says charges will follow after documentation.
A parcel addressed to a prisoner at Idrizovo Prison was found to contain 32 packs of marijuana after being flagged for additional inspection, police records show.
Search and seizure
The Penal Correctional Institution "Idrizovo" reported the case to the Skopje Police Department on 9 August at 13:40. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the parcel was searched earlier that day at around 11:00.
During the inspection of the parcel intended for 48-year-old O.M. from Kumanovo, officers discovered and seized a total of 32 packs of marijuana.
The seized narcotics were collected by police officers for further procedural action. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that, once the case is fully documented, an appropriate charge will be filed.
Authorities have not released additional details about the sender or the immediate status of the prisoner. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, a prisoner who had been released from Idrizovo for the weekend reportedly caused disturbances in Ohrid and "beat his own mother".
