367 building permits issued in July; 1,248 apartments planned

The State Statistical Office reported that 367 building permits were issued in July this year, 8.5 percent fewer than in the same month a year earlier.

Of the total permits, 227 (61.9 percent) are for high-rise construction, 39 (10.6 percent) for low-rise construction and 101 (27.5 percent) for reconstruction projects.

Planned housing and regional spread

During the reporting period construction of 1,248 apartments was planned, with a combined usable area of 100,440 square metres. The Skopje region registered the largest number of permits — 107 — and accounts for 752 of the planned apartments.

The aggregate planned value of the permitted projects is 7,995,108,000 denars, which is 74.8 percent lower than in the same month of the previous year. The drop in value is explained by a permit issued in the reference period last year for a wind park for electricity generation from renewable sources in the municipalities of Shtip, Radovish and Karbinci.

As for investors, 209 projects (56.9 percent) were initiated by individuals, while 158 projects (43.1 percent) were registered to business entities.
