A prosecutor from Bitola was detained in Prilep in a case linked to the return of Borche Markovski’s passport; prosecutors’ offices in Struga and Bitola previously issued opposing opinions.

The arrest, which took place in Prilep, is reportedly connected to the handling of the return of a passport belonging to Bitola businessman Borche Markovski. Authorities have not issued an official statement yet.
Sequence of decisions in the Markovski file
In June, a prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Struga issued a negative opinion on a defence request to have Markovski's travel document returned. After the defence filed a new request, the case was forwarded to the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Bitola, which ordered that a positive opinion be issued.
