Shtip opens multidisciplinary clinic for early detection and treatment of breast cancer

A new multidisciplinary clinic for early detection and treatment of breast cancer has started operating at the Clinical Hospital in Shtip.

What the clinic offers

The facility was established to serve patients from the entire Eastern Macedonia region, providing a centralized option for diagnostic and treatment services. Hospital management says the clinic has a regional remit and aims to reduce travel and waiting times for women in surrounding municipalities.

Medical staff assigned to the clinic form a multidisciplinary team of specialists who will work together on cases from screening through to treatment planning.

"The new clinic will have a regional character and will provide services to patients from across Eastern Macedonia. The clinic will host a multidisciplinary team of specialist doctors: radiologists, surgeons, oncologists and pathologists, and soon the team will be supplemented by psychiatrists and psychologists," said Dr. Vladko Zahariev, director of the Clinical Hospital and a specialist in neurosurgery.

Hospital officials say the multidisciplinary approach is intended to speed up diagnosis and coordinate care pathways, while plans are under way to integrate psycho-oncology support into routine care.

The opening marks a step toward strengthening regional oncology services and improving access to breast cancer care for communities in Eastern Macedonia.
