Skopje to run 13th mosquito disinsection of the season tonight
Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced a programme of aerial and ground mosquito treatments through late August.

Skopje will carry out the 13th mosquito disinsection of the season tonight, combining ground treatment with further aerial and field operations announced by Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski on his Facebook page.
“Activities will continue in the coming days. I issued orders for 20 August to carry out ground disinsection against adult forms of mosquitoes, on 21 August, in the early morning hours, to carry out aerial disinsection, while from 23 to 26 August ground disinsection against adult forms of mosquitoes will be carried out. All activities are implemented in accordance with the Annual Programme, the legal obligations and the report prepared by the Center for Public Health - Skopje, approved by the health authorities,” Gjorgjievski wrote.
The mayor also listed previous treatments performed earlier in the season, detailing larval and adult-form interventions and their dates.
“Disinsection against larvae: 7 May - aerial disinsection, 11 June - aerial disinsection, 26 June - ground disinsection, 10 July - aerial disinsection, 23 July - ground disinsection, 11 August - ground disinsection. Disinsection against adult forms of mosquitoes: 1 and 2 June - aerial disinsection, 18 and 20 June - ground disinsection, 27 and 28 June - aerial disinsection, 13 and 15 July - ground disinsection, 30 and 31 July - aerial disinsection, 4 and 6 August - ground disinsection. Until the end of the season, more than 20 disinsections against mosquitoes will be carried out,” he added.
Municipal officials say the interventions follow the established annual programme and were planned in coordination with public health authorities. The announced operations this week include ground treatment tonight, a planned ground campaign on 20 August, an aerial spray in the early hours of 21 August, and further ground treatments from 23 to 26 August.
“We continue to work in a timely and systematic way to protect the collective health and well-being of citizens,” the mayor concluded.
