International organised-crime group broken up in Thessaloniki; two arrests
One Macedonian and one Kosovar citizen arrested; 324 kilograms of marijuana found concealed in eight pallets of paper in a truck trailer.
Date: 15 August 2026. Authorities from North Macedonia, Kosovo and Greece carried out a coordinated cross-border operation in Thessaloniki that dismantled an international organised-crime group, officials said.
The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption (OJO GOKK) reported that one citizen of North Macedonia and one citizen of Kosovo were arrested during the action.
Major drug seizure in vehicle trailer
During an inspection of a commercial vehicle, investigators discovered and seized 324 kilograms of marijuana hidden inside eight pallets of paper in the vehicle's trailer. The drugs were taken into evidence as part of the international operation.
Under the direction of a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, the Department for Criminal Police carried out searches at multiple addresses across the territory of North Macedonia in the afternoon to identify any additional suspects and to secure further evidence and items connected to the criminal offence.
Prosecutors and police described the action as the result of close cooperation between prosecutorial and anti-narcotics services in the three countries. Investigations are continuing as authorities process the seized material and prepare charges against those arrested.
