187 public prosecutors are choosing the next head of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption

Today a total of 187 public prosecutors are casting ballots to choose the next head of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption (OJO GOKK). Voting is taking place at the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office and in the four higher prosecutor’s offices serving the appellate areas of Skopje, Gostivar, Shtip and Bitola.
Electoral commission reports from the polling stations in Skopje say the process is proceeding without interruptions.
Statement from the state prosecutor
State Prosecutor Nenad Saveski exercised his right to vote and described the procedure as an important democratic act in which the ranks of the prosecution decide their new leader.
“I hope that the chosen prosecutor will faithfully meet the tasks that lie ahead of him and that together we will contribute, above all, to strengthening trust and clearly demonstrating the fight against organized crime and corruption,” Saveski said.
He also noted that all five candidates are proven professionals and added: “Whoever is chosen will not be the wrong choice.”
Voting continues at the designated prosecutor’s offices across the country until the scheduled close of the poll, after which results will be counted and announced by the responsible bodies.
