Emergency night mosquito-spraying operation across Gazi Baba

Teams from the Center for Public Health, the City of Skopje and Gazi Baba Municipality completed an emergency mosquito control operation across the entire municipality early this morning. Field activities concluded at 03:30 on August 25, 2026, officials said.

All neighbourhoods and villages covered

The spray treated all settlements and urban communities in Gazi Baba, beginning in Keramidnica and continuing through Smilkovci, Creshevo, Stajkovci, Singelic, Chento, Indzhikovo, Madzari, Triangla, Hipodrom, Ergele, Trubarevo, Goce Delchev, Jurumleri, Rashtak, Brnjarci, Vinice, Bulachani, Idrizovo, Drma, Kolonija, Kiril Petrushevski, Avtokomanda and Zelezara.

Boban Stefkovski, mayor of Gazi Baba Municipality, spent the night on site together with the teams and described the measure as the result of rapid, direct coordination between institutions aimed at protecting public health.

"When it comes to the health and safety of citizens, responsibility, timely reaction and concrete field activities are needed. For us there is no duty more important than the protection of the life and health of our residents," Stefkovski said.

Municipal officials said monitoring will continue intensively on the ground and that additional treatments are planned in the coming days depending on needs and in continuous coordination with the responsible health institutions.

The operation targeted both residential neighbourhoods and peripheral village areas as part of a preventative effort to reduce mosquito populations and the risk of mosquito-borne disease during the late summer season.
