1,322 traffic offences in two days; 32 detained for reckless driving

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that police recorded a total of 1,322 traffic offences during routine road checks over the two days of 10 and 11 August.

Of the total, 400 offences related to drivers exceeding the permitted speed. In the same period, 32 people were detained for reckless driving: three of them were driving under the influence of alcohol, 15 were driving without a driver's license, and one person drove despite a previously imposed ban on driving.

Seizures and other sanctions

Police also seized 13 vehicles under Article 300-b of the Criminal Code. During the checks authorities recorded 302 cases of illegal parking, and 16 drivers were sanctioned for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Additional sanctions included 106 motorcyclists fined for not wearing protective helmets and 67 road users penalized for not using seat belts. Under the Law on Vehicles, eight unregistered vehicles were removed from traffic and two vehicles were taken off the road because of technical defects. Five drivers were fined for failing to meet the legal requirements for window tinting (film).

The Ministry said traffic controls will continue in the coming days and appealed to all road users to obey traffic rules and regulations to improve road safety.
