Drinking ban for rural water supplies in Ivankovci and Kumarino, Veles
The Municipality of Veles says taps in Ivankovci and Kumarino should not be used for drinking until tests confirm safety.

The Food and Veterinary Agency has banned the use of drinking water from the rural water supplies serving the villages of Ivankovci and Kumarino in the Veles area. The decision was issued on 20 August and was announced by the Municipality of Veles.
In a statement the municipality said: "Due to an identified irregularity, the water must not be used for drinking until the ban is lifted by the competent authority. We urge citizens to strictly observe the imposed ban and to follow the instructions of the competent institutions."
Warning signs reading "Water is not for drinking" have been placed at several points in both villages. The municipality said it will inform residents as soon as it receives official confirmation that the water is safe to use.
Conditions for lifting the ban
The municipality specified that the ban will be lifted only after three consecutive satisfactory (negative) analyses of the water are submitted by the competent body.
According to the 2021 census, Ivankovci has 650 inhabitants while Kumarino has 50. The rural water systems are operated by the local community.
Local officials asked residents to follow the posted notices and the guidance issued by public institutions until authorities confirm the supply is safe for drinking.
