Motorcyclist from Bitola dies after leaving road near Medžitlija
42-year-old from Novaci lost control of a moped on the regional road Medžitlija–Staravina; death was confirmed at the scene.

A 42-year-old man from the Novaci area of Bitola died after his moped left the road on the regional route between Medžitlija and Staravina, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
Police give timeline
“On 23.08.2026 at 20:30 the Bitola Police Department received a report that on the regional road Medžitlija – Staravina, 42-year-old D.J. from the village of Novaci, Bitola municipality, while driving a moped with Bitola license plates, lost control and ran off the carriageway. From the injuries sustained, D.J. died at the scene; an emergency medical services doctor pronounced death,” the police said.
An investigative team from SVR Bitola carried out an on-site inspection. Authorities said the victim was declared dead at the scene by the attending emergency doctor.
Local road and weather conditions at the time have not been specified by the police. Investigators routinely examine factors such as vehicle condition, speed, and possible interference from other road users.
The accident adds to this year’s road fatalities in the region as police continue to urge motorists to drive with caution on regional and rural roads, especially after dark.
