Zelensky: Kyiv is receiving early warnings again from its partners

Standing beside the leaders of Norway and Finland, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv has begun receiving early-warning alerts again from its partners after recent Russian strikes that had previously arrived without forewarning.

Improved intelligence sharing, Zelensky said

Zelensky said the change followed discussions with U.S. interlocutors earlier the same day, including a phone call with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He framed the development as a practical improvement for civilians across Ukraine.

"We are grateful that the intelligence information is now working — I mean the early warning, which is of immense importance for our people, for children, the elderly and civilians, because we can hear when a ballistic missile is coming," Zelensky said. "Therefore, we thank the American side that the system is now functioning."

The president did not expand on technical details in public remarks, but his comments signal that partners have restored or improved the flow of alerts that let Ukrainians take shelter ahead of incoming strikes.

Finland's president, Alexander Stubb, said the parties had made "significant progress away from public view," adding that "the process is back on the right track." Standing next to Zelensky, he described the work as discreet but consequential.

Analysts say reliable early-warning alerts can materially reduce civilian casualties by giving extra seconds or minutes for people to reach shelters, and Zelensky's public acknowledgment suggests Kyiv considers the system now effective enough to declare the improvement.
