Zelensky: Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian refineries, accuses US of cutting intelligence

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv will resume strikes on Russian oil refineries and accused the United States of withdrawing critical intelligence to pressure Ukraine to halt such operations.

Zelensky said Ukraine had limited the attacks for three days at Washington's request while, he asserted, Russia continued to target Ukrainian energy infrastructure. "Ukraine limited such attacks for three days at Washington's order, while Russia continued to strike Ukrainian energy infrastructure. It's over," he said.

Accusations over intelligence and Starlink

The president claimed American partners told Ukrainian officials they would cut off intelligence support if Kyiv did not stop the strikes. He also said the temporary degradation of Starlink satellite services used by the Ukrainian military was deliberate. "American colleagues told Ukrainian officials that if you do not stop the attacks, we will block intelligence sharing," Zelensky said.

Zelensky linked the intelligence dispute to wider diplomacy: he said he would have accepted the so‑called energy truce unveiled by Donald Trump on Sunday if Russia adhered to it, but accused Russia of ignoring the proposal and continuing strikes that left hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians without power. He noted that the Kremlin never publicly agreed to the deal.

To secure a halt to attacks on Russian fuel infrastructure, Zelensky said, Kyiv now wants more Patriot air‑defence missiles from the United States. He argued Ukraine is short of such interceptors because supplies were depleted during the conflict with Iran.

On relations with Washington, Zelensky was blunt: "It is not my job to repair relations between the US and Ukraine after last week's events. We did not destroy any relationship," he said, while sharply criticizing the diesel agreement that Trump struck with Russia as a gift to Vladimir Putin and an investment in Moscow's war effort.

"Trump has an affinity for autocratic leaders like Vladimir Putin. The question is when the next deal will be. Maybe it will be about gas. It will definitely be about gas," Zelensky added.
