AMSM warns of landslide danger and altered regimes on several Macedonian roads
AMSM says traffic is moving smoothly and border crossings on the Macedonian side show no long delays, but warns of possible landslides on certain road sections.
The Automobile and Motorcycle Association of Macedonia (AMSM) reports that traffic on state roads is currently moving without major interruptions and that most carriageways remain dry.
Road use outside urban areas is described as moderate. AMSM adds that, on the Macedonian side of international border crossings, there are currently no prolonged waits for vehicles entering or leaving the country.
Increased risk on low-lying and gorge sections
AMSM warns drivers to adapt speed to prevailing road conditions and to obey posted traffic signs. The association highlights particular danger on stretches that pass through basins, river valleys and gorges because of the possibility of rockfalls and landslides.
As a precaution, motorists are advised to maintain a safe following distance, reduce speed on uneven or narrow sections, and remain alert to workers, fallen debris or temporary traffic controls.
Drivers should follow road signs and any temporary traffic regimes and consult AMSM bulletins or official traffic information services for updates before setting out.
