Army to fire 10 salvos in Ilinden barracks for Independence Day

The Artillery Battalion of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia will carry out an honorary artillery salute tonight, September 7, 2026, at 19:00 at the Ilinden barracks in Skopje as part of events marking Independence Day on September 8.

According to the General Staff, the ceremonial firing will consist of 10 salvos launched from six artillery pieces deployed inside the barracks.

Test firing scheduled one hour earlier

The General Staff also announced a test firing at 18:00 on September 7: a single salvo will be fired from the same six artillery pieces to confirm readiness before the official salute.

The Army describes the salute as part of its protocol activities arranged for the commemoration of 8 September — Independence Day of the country.

The action will take place within the secure perimeter of the Ilinden barracks in Skopje and is organized by the Army's Artillery Battalion under the coordination of the General Staff of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.

This notice was issued on September 7, 2026 to inform residents and relevant authorities of the planned firings and their timings.
