Banks announce technical adjustments and possible payment interruptions this weekend

The Macedonian Banking Association announced that banks will perform planned technical adjustments to their systems during the coming weekend as part of preparations for implementing new standards in denar payment transactions that take effect from Monday, 9 November.

During these technical activities, banks warn of possible temporary interruptions or limited availability of certain services, particularly payment transactions. The temporary unavailability will be related to these planned system adjustments.

What is changing

The Association says the measures follow previously announced regulatory changes covering new payment orders, payment purpose codes and the use of payment accounts in IBAN format. Banks will adapt their systems so the changes work in everyday payment operations.

"The purpose of the system adjustments is to enable the smooth implementation of these changes in the everyday use of payment services. For the duration of the technical activities, banks announce possible temporary interruptions or limited availability of certain services, especially in payment transactions. The temporary unavailability will be related to these planned system adjustments. The exact timings of the activities, the services that will be covered and the expected duration of the restrictions will be listed in the individual notifications of the banks to their customers," the Macedonian Banking Association said.

Clients and companies are urged to monitor their bank's official communication channels and, if they have payments to make during this period, to plan them in advance according to the published information. The Association also stressed that existing account numbers will not change; banks will update how accounts are displayed and used in internet and mobile banking to the IBAN format.
