Bitola university library closes its distinctive inter-floor gallery
The circular inter-floor opening and its exhibition space have been closed as a new interior scheme is partially implemented.

The University Library "Sveti Kliment Ohridski" in Bitola has closed the gallery that used to connect its floors through a circular opening, removing a longstanding and distinctive element of the building's interior.
The gallery began at the first floor and allowed visitors to look up into the higher levels of the library. It also housed an old chandelier and a permanent exhibition that told the institution's history.
Historic exhibition and centennial markers
The exhibition, titled "From reading room to library," was installed in 2010, the year the library marked 65 years since its founding and 150 years since the opening of the first reading room in Bitola.
The gallery's surfaces and finishes were coordinated with the rest of the floor, using white and brown tones that matched the surrounding interiors.
Under a new interior design solution — which has not yet been fully executed — the opening toward the upper floors has been closed and a circular element in dark blue has been installed.
